Our Residential Treatment Program at Recovery First

Denise O’Connell, CEO of Recovery First, has over 30 years of experience in the mental health and substance use disorders treatment area. Here, she introduces Recovery First’s residential treatment program, which is hosted at our 28-bed facility in Hollywood, Florida.

Denise_OconnellRecovery First offers the full spectrum of treatment options, from detox to aftercare planning. Patients that require the residential level of treatment will begin their journey with a complete clinical and medical assessments at our detox location. Upon medical and clinical clearance and recommendation, clients can graduate to the residential location.

The program is staffed with our multi-disciplinary treatment team including nursing, treatment advocates, therapists and case managers. Our medical director and medical staff provide weekly care and access, which is available as needed.

The intensive clinical program consists of required daily treatments and therapies, which includes topics such as:

  • Process groups.
  • Family systems.
  • Gender specific programming.
  • Relapse prevention.
  • This stress-reduction program includes pain management and yoga.
  • SMART Recovery.

All clients are assigned a primary therapist for individual sessions. Our licensed marriage and family therapist can connect with clients and hosts a 2-day family program monthly.

Our residential treatment also offers specific programming for clients that are first responders or veterans in our Salute to Recovery program. We also have a specific track for healthcare professionals.  12-step meetings are offered some evenings, and clients can elect to attend church on Wednesday evening.

Outings include trips to the park, beach, or other social activities as clients learn to have fun while being sober.

Treatment at our residential program consists of clients living in a reality-based apartment building with their peers. Each apartment in the complex has either 2 or 3 bedrooms, where each bedroom will house 2 people.

As part of this reality-based living environment, clients do their own meal planning, shopping, and cooking. They can also enjoy working out in our full gym during assigned down time. Many clients enjoy spending time with their peers BBQing or spending quiet time in their assigned apartment, which they share.

If you’re looking for residential treatment, we hope you’ll consider Recovery First.
