Why Do We?
Why do we live in the past
And only dream of the future
Why do we hate the past
And fear the future
Why do we repeat our past
Instead of inventing our future
Why do we forget our past
Instead of thinking of our future
Why do we embellish our past
And tell of our great plans for our future
Why do we avoid the past
And dismiss our future
Why do we let our past ruin our lives
And think the future will do the same
Why do we give our past power over us
And let our future remain silent
Why do we do all these things
When all we need to do is live for today
